This program has been canceled due to illness.

The Antiques Club of the Finger Lakes will present "The Shaker Seed Industry” by Denise Richer at the Geneva History Museum. The meeting is free and open to the public.  A virtual option is also being offered.

The program by Denise Richter will focus primarily on the Shaker seed business in Shaker settlements near Albany, New York and nearby Massachusetts. The Shakers were a Christian sect that originated in England. In the 18th and 19th centuries, they established communities in upstate New York and New England, gradually spreading to the Mid-West.

Denise Richter is a past president of the Early American Industries Association, a worldwide organization with over 1800 members. Denise is also an antiques dealer with a special interest in woodworking tools and the Civil War. She especially enjoys researching obscure topics through historical societies and archives, and she is a regular volunteer at the Gettysburg National Military Park.

The meeting is presented in cooperation with Historic Geneva. Anyone who wishes to attend the program virtually through Zoom must register ahead of time. To register, click here. The necessary login information will be sent to registrants via email prior to the program. For any problems with registration or to register by phone, call the Historic Geneva office at 315-789-5151.  Registrations should be made by 5:00 pm on May 25, the day before the program.

The Antiques Club of the Finger Lakes is in its 47th year of programming. Meetings are free and open to the public, but membership is welcome and encouraged at $10 per year. Programs include meetings at the Geneva History Museum, field trips and social events. See our Facebook page for more news
