Rose Hill Family Day

Historic Geneva will host Family Day at Rose Hill Mansion on Saturday, August 10 from 12 to 4 p.m. At this free, family-oriented event, visitors can see the house and grounds at their own pace. Guides stationed on the first floor will share the story of the Swan family, especially the Swan children, and their lives at the mansion and farm from 1850 to 1890. There will also be a family scavenger hunt and periodic trips to the belvedere throughout the day. The second floor will be closed for the day.
Singer-songwriter Joan Burch will perform from 12–2pm. The Freier family will have two oxen on site and visitors can learn more about the use of oxen on historic farms. There will also be a cow and calf, sheep, and rabbits at the event. The Ward W. O’Hara Agricultural and Country Living Museum, Town of Fayette Historical Society, Girl Scouts, and Ithaca Maple Works will have booths on site. Members of the Genesee Country Bobbin Lace Guild will demonstrate bobbin lace and Tenerife lace. The Seneca County Living History Group, the Time Travelers, will play old-fashioned games on the lawn and demonstrate butter making. The Geneva Rotary will sell hamburgers and hotdogs and the Carriage House Gift Shop will be open.
