Family Day
By Mel Oles, Visitor Services and Program Manager at Rose Hill Mansion and Johnston House
Family Day at Rose Hill is returning on Saturday, August 10 from 12 pm to 4 pm. Join us for a day filled with fun activities for the whole family to enjoy. From farm animals to old-fashioned games, live music to a scavenger hunt, there will be something for everyone.
Bring the kids to meet our furry farm friends. We will have a pair of working oxen, sheep and rabbits. Demonstrations by the oxen will be held around the outside of the mansion. For their booth, the Town of Fayette Historical Society will re-create the 1857 Seneca County Fair and Cattle Show from 1857.
Children can enjoy various hands-on activities such as participating in a community drawing, going on a scavenger hunt on the 1st floor of the mansion, and playing old fashioned games.
The Geneva Rotary Club will be grilling hot dogs and hamburgers as a fundraiser. Bring a blanket for a good old-fashioned picnic. Families can spread out their blankets and enjoy a delicious meal while soaking in the beauty of the surroundings.
The sounds of live music will fill the air as you explore the grounds of Rose Hill and take part in the various activities. Singer-songwriter Joan Burch will play music from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm and Two Peace Banc will perform from 2 pm to 4 pm. Members of the Genesee Country Bobbin Lace Guild will demonstrate bobbin lace and Tenerife lace. Our other partners include the Ward W. O’Hara Agricultural and Country Living Museum, Girl Scouts, Time Travelers, and Ithaca Maple Works. The Carriage House Gift Shop will also be open during the event.
Support for Family Day is provided in part by Geneva Club Beverage and the Wyckoff Family Foundation.
Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity to spend quality time with your loved ones. Family Day at Rose Hill promises to be a memorable experience for all ages.
