How to Add to our collection
With your help, Historic Geneva preserves and shares our communities’ stories.
What we Collect
- Objects made in Geneva and/or by Genevans
- Object used or owned by local people
- Those objects that have a direct and important connection to an institution, event, or person relative to Geneva
Examples of items we are looking for include event programs, flyers, and T-shirts; photos; family records; and stories (oral or written) about living and/or working in Geneva.
Focused Collecting
- Experiences of our Black, Hispanic, Latinx, Syrian, and Jewish communities.
- Experiences of our LGBTQIA+ Community
- Late 20th-century physical materials and early 21st-century materials, including born-digital materials.
- Town of Geneva – fire companies (such as White Springs, West Lake Road, and North Side); homes and residents; and businesses.
Please contact us before sending any donations. To discuss a possible donation to our collection, call 315-789-5151 or email curator@historicgeneva.org.
Due to space limitations, we may not be able to accept your items, particularly if we already have several of the same object or if the object does not have a Geneva connection. We prefer identified photographs of people, as unidentified photos have less research and display value to us.
