This day John Nicholas of the Town of Geneva in the said county personally appeared before me Ezra Patterson a Justice of the peace in and for the said County and made oath that he the said John Nicholas resided out of this state during the year next preceding his bringing into this state the following Slaves, ver, Willis, his wife Katy, and their children Hannah, Mary & William, Nance and her children Bob, Dilliam & Harriet Minny, Alice, Randal, Jack George, Robert, Nelson, Sandy, Clary and her children Polly and Jerry and that during the same year next preceding his bringing the said Slaves into this state all and every of the said slaves were the property of him the said John Nicholas except William the child of Willis & Katy & Clary and her children Polly and Jenny that the said William was born within the said year the property of him the said John Nicholas, that the said Clary and her child Polly were during the said year the property of Anne Cary Nicholas an infant daughter of him the said John Nicholas and during the said year were in his possession for the benefit of his said daughter that Jenny the child of the said Clary was born within the said year the property of the said Anne Cary Nicholson and in the possession of him the said John Nichols that said Clary and her said children were brought to county by him the said John Nicholas as the property of the said Anne Cary Nicholas and that said Anne Cary Nicholas removed to this country with him the said John Nicholas.
