Amusements
(Adopted June 5, 1919)
Section 1. Baseball. It shall be lawful to paly base ball games in the city of Geneva on the first day of the week commonly known as Sunday between the hours of two o’clock in the afternoon and seven o’clock in the evening, provided that such games be played only at Gulvin Park or at such other place as may be permitted by the mayor in the manner hereinafter provided. In case that the mayor shall determine that base ball my be played on Sunday in any place in the city of Geneva other than Gulvin Park without disturbing the rest and quiet of the inhabitants of the city on that day, he may file in the city clerk’s office a permit in writing for the playing of base ball at that place. Such permit may be revoked at any time by filing a written revocation of the same in the city clerk’s office and every such permit shall expire in one year from the date of filing the same unless renewed.
Motion pictures – 2. It shall be lawful to exhibit motion pictures in the city of Geneva on the first day of the week, commonly known as Sunday, between the hours of seven o’clock and ten o’clock in the evening, provided that such motion pictures are exhibited in connection with a religious service and provided further that no charge is made for the admission to the place in which they are exhibited.
