Internship Opportunities

Rose Hill Mansion Internships

Interns are key members of a small team that is responsible for the ongoing interpretation of Rose Hill Mansion. Under the supervision of the Visitor Services and Programs Manager, interns will gain valuable, hands-on museum experiences.  Responsibilities may include leading guided tours, designing and installing exhibits, conducting a research project, and creating public programs and special events.  for a complete internship description, click here. The internship program is divided into three sessions – Spring (February to May), Summer (May/June to August), and Fall (September to December).   Academic credit can be arranged for students who complete a minimum number of hours per week, as determined by their academic institution.  Candidates who apply for the summer program are considered for paid positions.

Board of Trustees

Historic Geneva is seeking volunteers to serve on our Board of Trustees.  Trustees are key players in the effective operation of our organization.  The trustees’ primary responsibility is to maintain vigilance over our activities in policy, legal, and financial matters, as well as to oversee the operation of the organization by our staff.  If they are not already a member of Historic Geneva, trustees are asked to become one at the start of their term

The following are the duties of every Trustee:

  • Attend Board and committee meetings.
  • Demonstrate the responsibility of respecting the confidentiality of Board discussions.
  • Demonstrate the understanding of Historic Geneva’s mission thus allowing for the appropriate oversight of the administrative, programmatic, and financial aspects of the organization.
  • Review Board meeting minutes and other written materials presented to the Board so as to be able to vote and ratify such materials as needed.
  • Disclose any real or potential conflicts of interest to the Board by signing the Conflict-of-Interest Disclosure Statement.
  • Remove oneself from discussion and voting on all related matters when conflicts of interest occur.
  • Hire an Executive Director who, with the staff, is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Historic Geneva.
  • Work in conjunction with the Executive Director to move the growth and development of the organization forward according to Historic Geneva’s mission and strategic plan.
  • Evaluate the performance of the Executive Director annually to ensure that goals developed together are met.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Historic Geneva’s programs, property, and personnel offering suggestions and ideas for improvement when needed.
  • Participate in the development and growth of fundraising activities of the Historical Society thus ensuring the organization’s long-term health and viability.
  • Provide financial support to Historic Geneva by cash gifts, purchase of event tickets, and in-kind contributions.
  • Serve on Historic Geneva’s committees when appointed by the President ensuring that the committee executes its assigned responsibilities.
  • Elect after nomination diverse community representation that will achieve Historic Geneva’s mission, administrative, programmatic, and financial goals.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Historic Geneva’s by-laws in order to be certain that the conditions set forth therein are carried out.
  • Delegate authority to the Executive Committee as set forth in the by-laws.
  • Demonstrate support of Historic Geneva by actively promoting membership, programs, and events to community members.
  • Volunteer at Historic Geneva events and programs.
