The final program of our Spring Lecture Series will feature Civil War reenactor Les Buell, who will talk about medicine from the Revolutionary period through the Civil War. This is the real story of American medicine during this time period. Mr. Buell will combine lecture and hands-on demonstrations featuring the tools of the 19th-century trade.

Les Buell has been a reenactor for nearly 30 years. He is a member of the National Museum of Civil War Medicine and serves on the Board of Directors of the Society of Civil War Surgeons. He has presented programs on a variety of topics related to 19th-century medicine, including: Canadian surgeons in the Civil War, women and their changing role in medicine, and glass making and mineral waters of the 19th century. He has also authored several articles for Teaching Canada magazine.
