Billsboro Winery Plein Air Festival

Billsboro Winery is excited to announce our seventh Plein Air Festival, and introduce our new name:  The Seneca Lake Plein Air Painting Festival.  This year’s festival will be held Wednesday, October 1st – Sunday October 5th.  The event, which benefits The Smith Center for the Arts, will showcase the northern end of Seneca Lake in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region.  This is a juried art competition, with cash prizes.

We will have the remaining 2013 Plein Air Festival artwork hanging in both tasting rooms in two weeks, prior to Labor Day weekend and it will hang through Columbus Day. We sold over $11,000 in art this weekend… a new record… and 36 pieces of art!!! The event raised nearly $3000 for The Smith Center for the Arts, in commissions alone!

What is the Plein Air Festival at Billsboro Winery?

The Billsboro Winery Plein Air Festival is a juried art competition open to a maximum of 25 artists, with cash prizes. In 2013, the artists had two days of painting around the Finger Lakes. We held a Paint-Off Competition in the streets of downtown Geneva, as well as a “Public Painting Party” for adults and children who were interested in learning the beginnings of Plein Air painting! The week’s events culminated with a ticketed Artists’ Gallery Reception and Awards Ceremony.

We encourage you to join us in 2014 for this unique event in the heart of the Finger Lakes Wine Region. View freshly painted local scenes, framed and hung. Pieces range from watercolor to acrylic, oil and pastel. If you are looking for a great value in local artwork, this is the place to be.

All entered artwork will be available for silent auction at the Saturday evening Gala Reception. A Public Art Sale to sell the remaining paintings is held on Sunday. Bid on a piece that moves you and vote for your favorite for The People’s Choice Award. A truly unique experience for art lovers and collectors alike.
