March 1, 2016, 6:15 pm - 7:15 pm

Mount Olive Baptist Church
70 Clark Street
Geneva, NY 14456

In collaboration with Tools for Social Change and Mount Olive Baptist Church the Geneva Historical Society will host a Community Conversation about Geneva and the Civil Rights Movement at Mount Olive Baptist Church. This informal program is an opportunity to learn and to share. We will begin with a brief overview of the history of the 1960s movement and its impact on Geneva and Geneva's African-American community. Following this, participants will have the opportunity to share experiences, memories, thoughts, and stories about the African-American struggle for civil rights from the 1960s to today.

Geneva Historical Society staff will also share some of the material from our collection related to the history of the African American community in Geneva. Participants are welcome to bring documents, photographs, or other materials related to the Civil Rights Movement to share. The public is welcome to attend and take part in the conversation.

Mount Olive Baptist Church is located at 70 Clark Street in Geneva. This program is part of the Geneva Historical Society's ongoing series Community Conversations: Dialogues About Geneva History. For more information about the program, call the Geneva Historical Society at 315-789-5151.
