Rose Hill Mansion by Agnes Swan Hutchins, 1912

In the first lecture in our Fall Program Series, curator John Marks will speak about Geneva artists on Thursday, September 25 at 7 p.m. The program is being held in conjunction with the exhibit, Art By Genevans at the Geneva History Museum and Without Asking Permission: The Art of Agnes Swan Hutchins and Margaret Hutchins  at Rose Hill Mansion.

Since the 1790s artists have captured local scenes and people. Many creative Genevans have pursued art as a profession or hobby. While Arthur Dove is the most prominent Geneva artist, there are many who have called Geneva home while creating art. With artworks from our collection, John will explore various local artists who have been self-taught or academically trained and have painted for enjoyment or for payment.

The fall program series is supported in part by the ESL Charitable Foundation and is open to the public. There is a suggested donation of $5 to support our programming. For more information about the lecture, call the Historic Geneva office at 315-789-5151 or visit historicgeneva.org.
