A group of people standing in a large hallway listening to a tour guide.Where did historic house museums come from and why do we have them? What is there to love about them? At our December History Sandwiched In program, Mel Oles, Visitor Services and Programs Manager at Rose Hill Mansion & Johnston House, will share her love for historic houses. Mel will talk about why she loves historic houses and why they matter. She will give a quick history of the origin of historic houses as museums and tourist attractions, talk about historic homes in other countries and how they are similar to and different from those in the U.S., and discuss how historic homes are changed over time and with different uses.
