In conjunction with the centennial of the end of World War I and the Geneva Historical Society's current exhibit, A Changing World: Geneva and World War I, the Historical Society's Fall Lecture Series will feature programs about the war.

Ontario County Historian Preston Pierce will present the second lecture in the series, “Nursing in the Great War.” After providing a brief review of the past experience of nurses in the US military, he will look at the progression of nursing just before and during World War I and examine how that fits into the larger picture of the development of professional registered nursing during that period. Finally, he will examine the concept of an Army Reserve. Specific nurses from the Ontario County area will be cited as examples.
