Piazza Party at Lochland

June 7, 2015, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

1065 Lochland Rd
Geneva, NY 14456
315-789-5208

For over forty years, women’s rights and dress reform advocate Elizabeth Smith Miller (1822-1911) called Geneva home. With her daughter, Ann Fitzhugh Miller, she formed the Geneva Political Equality Club in 1897. Each year, after a winter of speakers and study groups, the Club’s concluding event was an elegant fundraising party the Millers held on the piazza of their home on Lochland Road. Their former home is now part of the Lochland School campus, where the Geneva Historical Society and the Lochland School will hold a piazza party modeled after those of the Millers. Along with live music, Elizabeth Cady Stanton (portrayed by Eleanor Stearms) and Jill Tietjen, CEO of the National Women’s Hall of Fame, will speak. Copies of Her Story by Jill Tietjan and Inspiring Women of the National Women’s Hall of Fame will be available for sale. Light refreshments will be served.

Tickets are $20 for Geneva Historical Society members and $25 for non-members. For tickets or more information call the Geneva Historical Society at 315-789-5151. Proceeds will benefit the Historical Society and Lochland School.
