Join the Antiques Club of the Finger Lakes in partnership with the Geneva Historical Society for "The Amish and Mennonites: The Old Order Cultures of New York," a program by Judson Reid. Amish and Horse-and-Buggy Mennonites have dramatically revitalized sectors of agriculture in New York’s Finger Lakes and beyond. Judson Reid will answer many of the questions that area residents may have about them. For example, how are these groups culturally distinct? What role do they play in local agriculture? What is their growth trajectory?

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this program will be presented virtually through Zoom. A device, internet connection, and email address are necessary to participate. To register click here. The necessary login information will be sent to you via email 24 hours prior to the program. For any problems with registration or to register by phone, call the Geneva Historical Society office at 315-789-5151. Registrations must be complete before 12 noon the day of the program.

Judson Reid is a Senior Extension Associate with Cornell Cooperative Extension. In this position he manages a series of research and education projects throughout New York State, often with Old Order groups. Reid has conducted educational sessions with farmers in the U.S., Mexico, Canada, Caribbean, Africa, Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Cuba (New York) on these topics. Having spent his youth on a northern New York dairy farm, Reid earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in agriculture from Cornell University.

The program is free and open to the public.
