History Sandwiched In: Seneca Foodways
Historic Geneva Curator John Marks looks at the foodways and agriculture of the Seneca Nation in this virtual presentation. From maple syrup to the Three Sisters, foods developed by the Seneca people of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) play a role in many American dishes. John will explore the history of these foods, looking at the details of hunting and gathering based on written accounts and archeology from the Geneva area.
I am a retiree from NYSEG and found this talk very interesting. Nyseg had acquired a small hyped generator in Keuka, NY. It used the water from Lamoka andWaneta to the water from these two lakes to power the machine.
Normally the water from these lakes would go through Keuka Lake and eventually feed into the Erir canal. In an emergency the could de fed into the southern tier located at Bradford NY
