Between the 1816 founding of Geneva and the 20th century, the preparation of the body after death and its burial shifted from a domestic activity to a business endeavor. In the Business of Death: Funeral Homes of Geneva looks at this transformation in Geneva and the local businesses that emerged from it. General craftsmen like cabinetmakers and stone cutters provided caskets and gravestones, then expanded to arranging funerals, transporting bodies to cemeteries, and hosting services in specialized funeral homes. Learn more about those who have served Geneva’s bereaved over the community’s history in this exhibit.

The exhibit will be on display through April 2025.
