2019 Community Survey

February 28th, 2019

To know where you’re going anywhere in life you need some kind of road map. For museums, this means a strategic plan. This year the Historical Society be working on a new strategic plan. When completed, it will serve as our road map for 2020 to 2022. As part of the planning process, we need your help. Please take a moment to fill out this survey.  We appreciate any and all input as we plan the Historical Society’s future.

As a geologist, it is always a surprise to learn just how few summaries exist of the large number of drill holes completed in Geneva and Geneva Town over the years. I remember coming to campus one Sunday and finding that a drilling rig from Oklahoma(!) had been on campus the day before. The company had been contracted to drill the hole for the new hydraulically-powered elevator being installed in what was then the new bio/chem building.
Other examples: the holes drilled along the lake shore for the hotel and the newer building north of it along the shore, the holes drilled for 5/20, the holes drilled for the Colleges’ ill-fated geothermal installation. With some scrounging around, many such data might be found, digitized, and given to the museum as the depository.
